My good friend, Kelli, and I went to check out Sex and the City: The Movie last night.
I've always enjoyed the former HBO series about 4 friends who share all the trials and tribulations of their lives while enjoying each other's company. As a matter of fact, it was one of my favorite shows to indulge in. You couldn't mess with me when my show was on. I could never get enough of Carrie's and Big's on-again-off-again relationship, Charlotte's corniness about finding her Prince Charming and riding off into the sunset, Miranda's hot head and thinking that she could control of every aspect of her life, and Samantha's explicit humor and her many many SEXcapades.
Anyway, I definitely got my money's worth with this box office smash. (The movie grossed $55.7 million in the opening weekend, knocking Indiana Jones to the #2 spot.) And Carrie did not disappoint when it came to her couture fashion sense. Labels were all over the place in this movie. Oscar de la Renta, Vera Wang, Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Carrie's oh-so-favorite Manolo Blahniks. I have to say all the women were on top of it when it came to fashion. And those hot
Christian Dior Extremes that Carrie wore throughout the movie were just intoxicating. She definitely did her thing.
Sex and the City opened with Carrie and her fashionable self walking the streets of NYC heading to a meeting with her man, Big, to shop for an apartment in the trendiest part of Manhattan. Big buys Carrie her dream spot, they get engaged, Big gets cold feet on the day of the wedding, and stands Carrie up while she is waiting on him in her original Vivienne Westwood wedding gown.

But the best part of the movie was the bond between the four friends. Samantha, Miranda, and Charlotte decide to take off from what they have going on to help Carrie mend her broken heart. Since Carrie was jilted at the altar, her friends take her on her "honeymoon". The four ladies jet off to Mexico where Carrie was supposed to spend her honeymoon with Big.
Carrie is depressed, but her girls never leave her side. After her best-friend therapy, Carrie returns to the city and decides to turn over a new leaf. She darkens her hair, hires an assistant (played by Academy Award winner, Jennifer Hudson), and tries to get her life back on track with out Big.

Jennifer Hudson had a nice part in the movie. She plays Louise from St. Louis who just arrived in NYC in the hopes of finding love. Instead she finds a job as Carrie Bradshaw's assistant and the two women become fast friends. I wish Hudson would have had a bigger part in the movie, but just to see her on the big screen doing her thing was good in itself.
Sex and the City is definitely the romantic comedy of the summer. And if you loved the show, you will especially love the movie. I know that I was "Carried" away.
