Aaliyah's Life Hitting The Silver Screen!

Yes, a movie about the remarkable Aaliyah is set to hit the big screen soon. Aaliyah was a superstar who touched the lives of many with her magical talents. The singer faced an untimely death in 2001 when her plane went down as she was leaving the Bahamas after a videotaping of her hit single, "Rock The Boat".

Now, the much-anticipated biopic of Aaliyah's life is definitely in the works. The movie will chronicle the life of the star from the beginning of her life until 2001. Newcomer Keisha Chante will play Aaliyah. According to many reports, the ink is certainly dry on the contract. Keisha Chante is a Canadian born R&B singer who released her first album back in 2006 titled 2U. The movie, which is currently untitled, is scheduled to hit the big screen mid-2009.

(Keisha Chante will portray Aaliyah in upcoming movie)

Originally, actress Meagan Goode thought that she was going to get the part to play the singer, but I guess the movie studio had a different vision. Nevertheless, I hope that the movie turns out great. Aaliyah was one of my favorite singers. She is most definitely missed.

Eartha Kitt Gives Beyonce the Green Light!

Singer and actress Beyonce Knowles has done and continues to do major things in the music world and now she is taking her shine over to the movie industry. Beyonce has starred along side Jamie Foxx and Eddie Murphy in the hit movie, Dreamgirls. Now, Beyonce is set to star as the fiery Eartha Kitt in an upcoming movie about the legendary sex kitten's life. Some people are wondering if Bey can pull it off. I think she can.

ABC News states: Singer and actress Beyonce Knowles recently received the greenlight to play legendary Eartha Kitt in a biopic of the singer's life. Her sex-kitten nighclub act with that signature throaty performance helped Kitt rise to fame. She is perhaps best known for her role as Catwoman in the 1960s "Batman" series. During her career, Kitt endured a 10-year blacklisting owing to her sharp criticism of the Vietnam War. Today, the 79-year-old singer is battling colon cancer. She told the New York Post, "I never expect anything to happen to me. "I'm the healthiest person in the world."

Movie Review: Sex and the City

My good friend, Kelli, and I went to check out Sex and the City: The Movie last night.

I've always enjoyed the former HBO series about 4 friends who share all the trials and tribulations of their lives while enjoying each other's company. As a matter of fact, it was one of my favorite shows to indulge in. You couldn't mess with me when my show was on. I could never get enough of Carrie's and Big's on-again-off-again relationship, Charlotte's corniness about finding her Prince Charming and riding off into the sunset, Miranda's hot head and thinking that she could control of every aspect of her life, and Samantha's explicit humor and her many many SEXcapades.

Anyway, I definitely got my money's worth with this box office smash. (The movie grossed $55.7 million in the opening weekend, knocking Indiana Jones to the #2 spot.) And Carrie did not disappoint when it came to her couture fashion sense. Labels were all over the place in this movie. Oscar de la Renta, Vera Wang, Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Carrie's oh-so-favorite Manolo Blahniks. I have to say all the women were on top of it when it came to fashion. And those hot Christian Dior Extremes that Carrie wore throughout the movie were just intoxicating. She definitely did her thing.

Sex and the City opened with Carrie and her fashionable self walking the streets of NYC heading to a meeting with her man, Big, to shop for an apartment in the trendiest part of Manhattan. Big buys Carrie her dream spot, they get engaged, Big gets cold feet on the day of the wedding, and stands Carrie up while she is waiting on him in her original Vivienne Westwood wedding gown.

But the best part of the movie was the bond between the four friends. Samantha, Miranda, and Charlotte decide to take off from what they have going on to help Carrie mend her broken heart. Since Carrie was jilted at the altar, her friends take her on her "honeymoon". The four ladies jet off to Mexico where Carrie was supposed to spend her honeymoon with Big.

Carrie is depressed, but her girls never leave her side. After her best-friend therapy, Carrie returns to the city and decides to turn over a new leaf. She darkens her hair, hires an assistant (played by Academy Award winner, Jennifer Hudson), and tries to get her life back on track with out Big.

Jennifer Hudson had a nice part in the movie. She plays Louise from St. Louis who just arrived in NYC in the hopes of finding love. Instead she finds a job as Carrie Bradshaw's assistant and the two women become fast friends. I wish Hudson would have had a bigger part in the movie, but just to see her on the big screen doing her thing was good in itself.

Sex and the City is definitely the romantic comedy of the summer. And if you loved the show, you will especially love the movie. I know that I was "Carried" away.

Eddie Murphy Starring In New Beverly Hills Cop

Looks like since the recent success of the new Indiana Jones movie is sparking another comeback classic from Beverly Hills Cop.

Beverly Hills Cop made comedian Eddie Murphy a household name in 1984.

The now 47 year-old Eddie Murphy has signed on to star in the fourth installment of the movie. Murphy will star as the ever-popular Detective Axel Foley.

The movie is slated to begin filming next year with a 2010 summer release.

Word is that Brett Ratner will be the director of the film. Ratner is known for his success with the Rush Hour movies.

This may be a good look for Eddie. I will definitely check it out when it comes to the big screen.
