Oscar is Buzzing Around Taraji P. Henson

According to recent reports, actress Taraji P. Henson, who has starred in several well known movies throughout her career is currently being praised for her performance in the new Brad Pitt film, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. She plays Pitt's character's mother in the movie. Henson is known for her portrayal as Yvette in the critically-acclaimed film, Baby Boy, where she starred along withTyrese Gibson, she also starred in Talk To Me, alongside Don Cheadle, and more recently, she was in the Tyler Perry film, The Family That Preys, starring award-winning actresses Alfre Woodard and Kathy Bates.

Henson was recently asked how she felt about the Oscar talk, and she just brushed it off. She said that she's no stranget to Oscar buzz. Hollywood was talking several years ago about a potential win when Henson portrayed the character Yvette in Baby Boy. So she's not going to get herself worked up over it this time. She says that if it happens, it happens and she will definitely be grateful, but she's leaving it all up to the Man upstairs.

Lil Wayne: The Leader of The Pack!

Hip-hop phenomenon Lil Wayne is ahead of the game with the most Grammy nominations ever.

The New Orleans native has been in the rap game since he was 11 years old. And now he is definitely getting his props. His latest album, The Carter III, has brought Wayne into the major mainstream, getting him worldwide recognition for his unbelievable talent.

The success of The Carter III has put Wayne in the category for the Album of the Year. The record sold 1 million copies in its first week of release and has gone on to sell 2.7 million copies. That is the most records sold by any artist this year. And with all the downloading and bootlegging in this day and time, 2.7 million is an outstanding number.

Personally, I usually don't get into the Grammy awards because they are known to be boring as hell, but I will definitely be checking for them next year when the winners are announced. The 51st Grammy Awards will be held in Los Angeles at The Staples Center February 8, 2009 airing on CBS. Check your local listings.

2008 American Music Awards Recap...

The American Music Awards brought out all the star-studded glitz and glamour as usual. Everybody who was anybody had their face in the place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Hitting up the red carpet was everyone from Miley Cyrus to Aerosmith and from Chris Brown to Wu Tang Clan.
Christina Aguilera opened the show with a medley of some of her biggest hits and the girl still had some moves. Rihanna and Chris Brown started the night off winning awards. Rihanna won her first for favorite female artist in soul/R&B category as well as the pop/rock category, beating out Alicia Keys. Chris won for the same two categories on the male side and then snatched up the last award of the night for Artist of the Year.

And you know Kanye showed up and they had to give him something or he would have made it his business to make a spectacle of himself. He won two trophies. One was for favorite rap/hip hop album and the other was for best male rap/hip hop artist.

And the performances was definitely the business. Neyo really did his thing with a medley of "Miss Independent" and "Closer". New Kids on the Block showed up and did their new song and a medley of the old ones like "Right Stuff" and "Please Don't Go Girl". They were a little rusty like they didn't practice enough or something. Then, Beyonce killed it with her "Single Ladies" performance. Miss Thang had everybody in there on their feet talking about, "put a ring on it". After that, I got a chance to see Rihanna perform "Rehab" and she did a pretty nice job. Girl has come a long way on the performance tip.

Barack Obama delivered his victory speech at Grant Park in Chicago, IL. Among the crowd of thousands were the tearful Rev. Jesse Jackson and media mogul Oprah Winfrey.

Palin Tries to Bring Out the Big Guns on Obama!

"Hockey mom", Sarah Palin accepted her GOP VP nomination last night at the Republican convention by attacking Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama every chance she got while giving her acceptance speech.

Palin gave her opinion on Obama's vow of "change". She said that the only change Obama is referring to is the change that is gonna benefit his career and not the American people. She went on to say that Obama is not a leader and that he has never led anyone to anything.

First of all, Obama is a major fixture in the US Senate and is a Harvard graduate. From my research on him, Obama could have easily taken a job as a high-paid attorney and not shown any interest in the struggling people of this country. Instead he devoted his time and energy in setting out to right some wrongs and find solutions to many of the problems that lower and working class people face in America. To sum it up, Barack Obama cares about the people in this country.

In my opinion, Palin is full of it. The Republican party tries to paint her as an honest woman. What-the-hell-ever! This woman looks like everything that comes out of her mouth are lies, lies, and more lies. Not once did the hockey mom mention what she and the 72 year-old are going to do for the people of this country if they get lucky enough to make it to the White House. She never went into specifics with her acceptance speech. There were no talks about the struggling economy or the poor healthcare situation affecting the working class people. The only thing that we got from her speech was that she was a devout "hockey mom" and McCain was a P.O.W. Don't you think that the American people deserve more than that?

After she was done with her Obama bashing, Palin went on to turn her hunting rifle on the media as well. Her criticism of the media is mainly based on all the controversy surrounding her family. Especially, the baby daddy drama going in with her 5 month pregnant 17 year-old daughter, Bristol. But anyone--Republican, Democrat, or whatever--should have seen that Palin's entire family being present last night was a message to the media. When I saw Bristol's bust it baby, Levi, there looking all confused and out of place, I knew that something in the milk just wasn't clean. He looked like he was dragged into that seat by his hair and forced to stay there.

Levi and Bristol

Watching Palin's speech and Rudy Guiliani's speech before hers, I noticed that the Republicans aren't really that moved. They aren't as hyped as the Democratic people. According to some Republican party supporters, McCain is going to have to come out with a stepped up game if he wants a real bounce out of the Republicans at the convention. Some McCain supporters have stated that McCain is going to have to show that he is not going to be a repeat of George W. Bush. Even the Republicans are fed up with Bush and his B.S. The bottom line is: If McCain and Palin get lucky enough to set foot in the White House, this country will go to hell and back. Those two just do not make a good combination. Why he picked her to be his running mate, I have no clue. If we want 4 more years of the same bad decision-making and lack of knowledge on how to run an entire country, we will go out and support the McCain/Palin ticket. But if we want positive change and to have someone in the White House who cares about the people of this country, we will support the Obama/Biden ticket.

Go Obama/Biden 2008! It's time for a Change!

Williams Sisters Take Over Wimbledon!

The Williams sisters took over Wimbledon this past weekend.

Look, I don't ever watch tennis, but this was a fun match to watch between sisters, Venus and Serena Williams. The sisters went head-to-head in the Wimbledon finals for the second time. The first time they played each other in the finals was back in 2003.

Venus beat her little sister and won her 5th Wimbledon title.

Both ladies went on to win another trophy Sunday for the ladies' double title.

Now the sisters are gearing up to try to win their second gold medal on the US women's tennis team in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
